Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary setting in Wirral, Merseyside. You will deliver structured support, help pupils access the curriculum with confidence, and work as part of an experienced team to raise outcomes.

The role involves assisting with planning, 1:1 and small-group interventions, and promoting a calm, inclusive learning environment throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or strong equivalent level of advanced classroom support experience.
• Proven experience supporting children in a school or education setting.
• Enhanced DBS check and Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support planned learning activities with targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions.
• Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absence, maintaining routines and safety.
• Assist with planning and resource preparation, adapting tasks for varying needs including SEND.
• Monitor learning, contribute to assessment evidence, and feedback to staff.
• Promote independence, social development, and pupil engagement in school life.
• Follow safeguarding guidance and collaborate with staff and families.
