Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is partnering with a specialist SEND school in Bristol to recruit an experienced HLTA for a part-time, long-term role starting October 2026. You will work 3 days per week, leading learning activities, delivering targeted interventions and supporting pupils with Autism, SLD, PMLD and complex needs.

The role offers market-leading hourly rates (£15.50-£18), a temporary contract and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent experience.
• Experience with SEND in a specialist setting.
• Knowledge of Autism/ASD, SLD and PMLD and related needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging learning activities for pupils.

Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA looking for a rewarding role that offers the flexibility to work just 3 days a week?

Role

The school is looking to welcome an enthusiastic HLTA on a (part-time, long-term basis from October 2026, working 3 days per week with flexibility around which days you work.) As an HLTA, you will work alongside experienced teachers and specialist support staff to lead engaging learning activities, deliver targeted interventions and support pupils with autism, SLD, PMLD and complex needs, helping them develop communication, confidence, independence and essential life skills.

Requirements

• HLTA status or relevant equivalent experience
• Experience working with children and young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist school or provision
• Knowledge and understanding of Autism / ASD, SLD, PMLD and complex additional needs
• Confidence leading small groups, delivering targeted interventions and adapting learning activities to individual needs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively alongside teachers, therapists and support staff
• A caring, patient and proactive approach with the creativity and enthusiasm to make learning enjoyable and accessible
