Job summary

An HLTA / Higher Level Teaching Assistant is needed in Stoke-on-Trent to support a SEND setting with vocational courses. The role focuses on SEMH learners, helping build confidence, practical skills and engagement through hands-on, practical learning across subjects such as joinery, carpentry, brickwork, plastering and motor vehicle studies.

The successful candidate will hold an HLTA qualification (ECTs / QTS also welcome), have experience in at least one vocational area, and be capable of

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or QTS considered
• Experience delivering vocational subjects is advantageous
• Ability to support SEMH learners in a calm learning environment

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on, practical learning across vocational subjects (Joinery, carpentry, brickwork, plastering, Motor Vehicle)
• Create a calm, supportive environment for learners
• Support SEND students in engaging with learning and developing practical skills

I am proud to be looking for a HLTA / Higher Level Teaching Assistantbased in Stoke to support a SEND setting with their vocational courses. The setting works with children with SEMH needs (Social, Emotional, Mental Health), who require additional support. The successful HLTA will play a crucial role in building these young peoples confidence, practical skills and engagement with learning.

The successful HLTA /Higher Level Teaching Assistant will be delivering a range of practical vocational subjects such as Joinery / carpentry, brickwork, plastering, Motor Vehicle studies.

The successful HLTA /Higher Level Teaching Assistant will have:

• - Minimum HLTA Qualification (ECTs / QTS also welcome to apply)


• - Experience in at least one of the above vocational avenues


• - Experience working with children from an SEMH background


• - Deliver hands on, practical learning


• - Be able to create a calm, supportive environment for learners


• - Have a special interest in working with vulnerable young people
