Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting History Graduates to support students in a successful secondary school in Ashington, Northumberland. This role offers a pathway to gain practical classroom experience before teacher training, with weekly PAYE pay and long-term opportunities.

You’ll work as a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support role across Humanities, helping students build confidence and essential skills in a supportive school environment.

The Role


  • Teaching Assistant

  • Humanities Learning Support Assistant

  • Academic Mentor

  • SEND Teaching Assistant

  • Inclusion Support Assistant

  • Learning Mentor

  • Intervention Support Assistant


You’ll gain invaluable experience by:


  • Supporting students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.

  • Assisting pupils across Humanities subjects and the wider curriculum.

  • Supporting learners with SEND, Autism (ASC), ADHD and SEMH needs.

  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and achievement.

  • Building confidence, resilience and independence in young people.

  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SEND professionals.

  • Creating positive relationships that help students succeed both academically and personally.
