Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a Sports Graduate to support students at a forward‑thinking secondary school in Ashington, Northumberland. This role offers hands‑on classroom experience, developing coaching and leadership skills to influence young people both inside and outside the classroom.

You will work across roles such as Behaviour Support Assistant, Learning Mentor and Sports Coach, gaining experience with SEMH needs and SEND while collaborating with teachers and pastoral teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Sports Science, Sports Coaching, Physical Education or related subject.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for supporting young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Use sports-based strategies to engage and motivate learners.
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Work with students with SEMH needs, ASC, ADHD and additional learning needs.

The Role

As a Sports Graduate, you may work as a:

  • Behaviour Support Assistant

You’ll gain invaluable experience by:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.

  • Previous coaching, mentoring or youth work experience is desirable but not essential.
