Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Section 278/38 Engineer to support its Highways Development Approvals team on a contract basis. You will technically review developers' highway design submissions to improve approval turnaround times and ensure compliance with local and national standards.

Responsibilities include appraising designs, liaising with developers and internal stakeholders, and supporting the Senior Design Engineer to move submissions toward technical approval.

Qualifications

• Experience in the technical approval or review of highway designs.
• Ability to interpret complex design submissions and assess compliance with standards.
• Strong communication to liaise with developers, designers and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Appraise submitted highway designs against local and national standards.
• Review proposals for adoptable highways under Sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act.
• Identify design issues and provide technical feedback to developers’ designers and consultants.
• Liaise with developers, consultants and internal stakeholders to progress submissions toward technical approval.
• Support the Senior Design Engineer with assessments and processing of applications.
• Ensure design submissions meet technically approvable standards.
• Manage workloads independently and contribute to reducing backlogs and delays.
• Assist in developing a future pre-submission technical advice service.
