Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places is recruiting a Highways Operative to join our Lincolnshire team. You will perform varied highway maintenance tasks across drainage, kerb, footways and related works to keep communities safe and connected.

The role requires a practical, safety-minded individual capable of working in a team, following work programmes and using a range of plant and tools. A full UK driving licence and flexibility for out‑of‑hours work are essential.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence held with clean driving record.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work effectively within a team in varied environments.
• Honest, reliable and capable of acting with integrity.
• Flexible availability for overtime and shift work when required.
• Desirable: NRSWA accreditation, CSCS Highway Maintenance card, EUSR Excavation qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a broad range of highway maintenance activities safely and to a high standard.
• Undertake drainage works, kerb laying, footway improvements and repairs.
• Carry out excavation and trenching with appropriate equipment.
• Follow Zero Harm culture and report incidents and observations.
• Monitor materials and resources to support project delivery.
• Support winter maintenance and out-of-hours emergency response as needed.
