Job summary

Amey in Milnrow, Rochdale, is hiring a Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our skilled team. The role involves delivering highway maintenance activities, temporary traffic management and supporting winter and emergency operations.

You will work 42 hours per week on a 12-hour shift pattern (4 on, 4 off) across day and night shifts, contributing to safe and efficient road networks. You will undertake routine maintenance, vehicle checks, and collaborate with subcontractors, emergency

Qualifications

• LGV Class C licence required.
• 35 hours Driver CPC required.
• CSCS card required.
• Personal Highways Passport required.
• Manual Handling training completed.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high safety and technical standards on highways works.
• Attend project and work briefings as required.
• Drive and operate vehicles and plant.
• Carry out vehicle and plant checks, maintenance and cleaning.
• Deliver highway maintenance activities including minor civils and litter picking.
• Install temporary traffic management.
• Support winter maintenance operations.
• Participate in emergency call-out and standby arrangements.
• Ensure personal and public safety; follow health and safety requirements.
• Record hours, defects and allocation data accurately.
• Maintain records and complete paperwork.
• Liaise with colleagues, subcontractors, emergency services, clients and the public.
