Job summary

Amey is recruiting a Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative for our Area 10 – Strategic Highways account based at Milnrow depot, Rochdale. The role covers installation of temporary traffic management and routine highway maintenance, plus litter picking and minor civil works.

Winter and emergency standby duties are included. The successful candidate will hold LGV C, CPC hours, CSCS, and a Personal Highways Passport, with good problem-solving and communication skills to work safely with the

• LGV Class C driving qualification and CPC hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high technical standards in highway maintenance.
• Operate vehicles/plant, perform checks and record defects.
• Carry out routine and cyclic maintenance, litter picking and civils works.
• Winter maintenance and emergency standby duties.
• Ensure safety of self and others and comply with health and safety rules.
• Complete paperwork, communicate with partners and the public.

Title: Highways Maintenance Operative

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our in Area 10 – Strategic Highways account based in Milnrow depot, Rochdale.

A Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in the installation of temporary traffic management. All aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor Civil’s works, litter picking, etc.

Undertake Winter and emergency call out and standby.

Working Hours

The standard hours of work are 42 hours per week (Average). 12 Hour shifts days and nights. 4 On 4 Off days/Nights rotation.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Maintain high technical standards.
• Attend project and work briefings as required.
• To drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks, routine maintenance, (eg oil and water checks etc) and cleaning.
• All aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works, litter picking, etc.
• Winter maintenance operations.
• Emergency call out operations.
• Taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect member of the public.
• Carrying out vehicle checks prior to shift starting, correctly filling in defect books.
• Recording of Drivers hours.
• Allocation and capturing time and resource utilisation in line with operated allocation system.
• To keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers.
