Job summary

Amey Ltd in Manchester is seeking a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our on-site team at Tatton House (M23 9LF). The role covers routine and cyclic highway maintenance, minor civils work, litter collection and winter standby duties.

The standard hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible working options including hybrid or part-time patterns. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and will provide development or training to help you grow with Amey.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance tasks such as patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance.
• Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the allocated system.
• Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, clients and customers.
