Job summary

VolkerHighways is offering an apprentice general operative role across the south of the UK. You will join an operational project team, learn on the job, and work toward a nationally recognised Level 2 apprenticeship in Highways Maintenance with college blocks and accommodation provided.

No prior construction experience is required; full training and support will be provided as you gain practical site skills and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Interest in construction and working outdoors.
• Positive attitude, good timekeeping and safety focus.
• Flexible approach to working hours (early starts, night work, weekends).
• Commitment to attending/completing training as scheduled.
• Willingness to obtain a CSCS card if not already held.
• Willingness to work towards a full UK driving licence during apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Support project operations such as kerb laying, footway works, drainage repairs and patching.
• Learn to carry out tasks safely and to required standards.
• Use tools, plant and equipment safely with training.
• Attend training blocks and apply learning on site.
• Follow health, safety, wellbeing and environmental procedures.
