Job summary

VolkerLaser seeks a Trainee Operative to join our project teams across the UK. Start ASAP on a full-time basis (45 hours/week). You will learn on the job while working towards a nationally recognised Level 2 apprenticeship in Highways Maintenance, delivered with the CITB Construction College.

You’ll join an operational team, receive paid training time, and gain practical experience on site, with full training and support provided. No prior construction experience required.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and contribute in a practical outdoors setting.
• Commitment to attending CITB training and completing a Level 2 apprenticeship.
• maths and English Level 3 requirements are essential.
• CSCS card is expected or obtained during training.
• Willingness to travel to depot and site locations across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support project activities alongside experienced operatives.
• Learn to carry out tasks safely and to required standards.
• Use tools and equipment with training and authorisation.
• Attend CITB training blocks and apply learnings on site.
• Follow health, safety, wellbeing and environmental procedures.
• Keep work areas tidy and safe.
• Report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Represent VolkerLaser professionally on site.
