Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited in Leeds is seeking an experienced Estimator to drive pricing and tendering for highways and infrastructure projects across Yorkshire and the North West. You will work closely with Commercial and Operational teams to produce high-quality bids and manage risk throughout the tender process.

The role offers hybrid working from Leeds with flexibility and opportunities to influence regional contracting strategy and grow your career within a market-leading business.

Qualifications

• Significant commercial and estimating experience within Highways, Surfacing or Infrastructure.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a highly organised approach.
• Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking capability.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to work accurately and effectively to tight deadlines.
• Strong IT literacy and confidence using estimating systems.
• A logical, structured and process-driven approach with exceptional attention to detail.
• Degree-level education or significant relevant industry experience.
• Confidence when navigating both financial and contractual risk.

Responsibilities

• Producing accurate, competitive and high-quality tenders.
• Assessing financial, contractual, operational and technical risks.
• Supporting the development of a strong pipeline of future opportunities.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, clients and key stakeholders.
• Reviewing and appraising completed tenders to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Understanding customer requirements and developing bids that reflect their needs.
• Ensuring compliance with company processes, policies and governance procedures.
• Contributing to the delivery of regional and national commercial strategies.
