Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Asset Technician to join the Asset Management, Design & Delivery team. This role offers a path into highways, engineering and asset management, with opportunities to contribute to essential public infrastructure.

You will work across sites, gather information, and help shape maintenance programs. The job emphasizes teamwork, practical problem solving and strong customer service to local communities.

Qualifications

• Essential: GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
• Essential: Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Essential: Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and email.
• Essential: Ability to investigate problems and identify solutions.

Responsibilities

• Visiting sites across Cambridgeshire to investigate reported highway issues.
• Gathering information to help shape maintenance programmes and future improvements.
• Working alongside engineers, technicians and contractors to develop maintenance solutions.
• Supporting the delivery of highway maintenance activities.
• Inspecting completed works and helping ensure high-quality standards are achieved.
• Working with Town and Parish Councils to understand local priorities.
• Helping keep residents informed about planned highway maintenance activities.
• Supporting wider teams to ensure the Council delivers the best possible value for money.
