Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Highways Engineer to join our Highway Asset Management team, delivering maintenance programmes that keep the network safe, reliable and fit for the future.

You will lead the planning, design and delivery of highway maintenance schemes across the city, manage resurfacing and drainage projects, and work with inspectors, contractors and residents to ensure high-quality, value-for-money outcomes for our streets.

Qualifications

• Experience planning, designing and delivering highway maintenance.
• Knowledge of asset management principles and lifecycle planning.
• Ability to interpret condition data and set priorities.
• Experience managing projects, budgets and contractors.
• Good knowledge of highway legislation, standards and specifications.
• Experience with highway asset management software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver annual highway maintenance programmes.
• Design and oversee resurfacing, reconstruction and preventative schemes.
• Prioritise investment using condition surveys and asset data.
• Manage projects from feasibility to completion and report on progress.
• Coordinate with residents, councillors, contractors and internal stakeholders.
