Job summary

North Somerset Council is seeking a Technical Support Officer to join the Highway Structures Team in Weston-super-Mare. The role supports maintenance programmes, procurement and customer enquiries, within a flexible hybrid working pattern.

Essential criteria include an HNC or similar, strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Office. The team manages hundreds of structures and aims to deliver projects within set timescales and budgets.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication with stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage data, records and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations of the Highway Structures Team.
• Prepare submissions to insurers for damage recovery claims.
• Maintain records in the AMS and coordinate Streetworks notices.
• Support procurement of works and service contracts.
• Assist with budget monitoring and reporting.
