Job summary

Matchtech seeks a Senior Engineer (Structures) to support delivery and maintenance of highway structures across the Bournemouth area. The role combines asset management, structural design and project delivery with hybrid working (minimum one day per week in Bournemouth).

Key duties include delivering maintenance programmes, designing structures from concept to construction, preparing tender information and coordinating contractors and staff. The start date is planned for 5 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in highway structures, design, construction or maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and related assets.
• Experience in contract and project management, cost control and QA.
• Ability to manage stakeholders and comply with health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver maintenance and improvement programmes for highway structures.
• Design highway structures schemes from concept to construction.
• Prepare design drawings, specs, tender docs and pre-construction info.
• Conduct inspections using site data and asset management software.
• Develop programmes based on asset priorities and structural condition.
• Manage contracts, costs, quality and compliance with standards.
• Supervise site teams and coordinate consultants and contractors.
• Promote innovation in highway structures and asset management.
