Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to deliver highway structures schemes, inspections and project delivery on a hybrid basis in Bournemouth.

You will manage schemes from concept through construction, coordinate with consultants and contractors, and ensure compliance with CDM and standards. The role covers design, inspection, asset management and maintenance planning across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience delivering highway structures projects.
• Experience managing bridge/structures projects and supervising construction works.
• Knowledge of DMRB, British Standards and Eurocodes.
• Experience undertaking bridge inspections to relevant highway structures inspection standards.
• CDM 2015 and health & safety requirements knowledge.
• Contract and project management experience including cost/quality control.
• Ability to manage consultants, contractors and technical staff across multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Design highway structures schemes from concept through to construction.
• Produce drawings, specifications, tender documentation and pre-construction information.
• Carry out visual, general and principal bridge inspections.
• Support the development of planned maintenance programmes using asset condition and prioritisation data.
• Manage highway structures projects, consultants and contractors.
• Supervise site-specific contract delivery teams.
• Monitor programme, cost, quality and project performance.
• Liaise with contractors, utilities, internal teams and other stakeholders.
• Ensure works comply with relevant technical standards, legislation and CDM requirements.
• Support improvements and innovation across structures and asset management.
