Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a motivated HLTA or Level 3 Teaching Assistant with strong phonics intervention experience to join a North Liverpool primary school from September 2026. You will help raise pupils’ confidence, reading ability and overall progress through targeted phonics and literacy support.

The role requires leading small-group interventions, collaborating with teachers and SENDCo, and maintaining an inclusive and stimulating classroom. DBS check required or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification with proven intervention experience.
• Excellent phonics knowledge with Read Write Inc or similar programmes.
• Experience supporting primary pupils with varying learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging phonics and literacy interventions to small groups.
• Lead structured intervention sessions independently for diverse learners.
• Use evidence-based phonics programmes to close gaps and accelerate progress.

Salary: £95-£120 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Aspire People is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or an accomplished Level 3 Teaching Assistant with strong phonics intervention experience to join a welcoming primary school in North Liverpool from September 2026. The Role

• Deliver engaging phonics and literacy interventions to small groups of pupils.
• Lead structured intervention sessions independently, supporting children with a range of learning needs and abilities.
• Use evidence-based phonics programmes, such as Read Write Inc. or similar, to close learning gaps and accelerate progress.
• Work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to plan, monitor, and evaluate pupil progress.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where every child can thrive.
• Provide regular feedback to staff and pupils, helping to celebrate success and identify next steps.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and a love of learning.

What We're Looking For

• HLTA status, or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification with proven experience delivering interventions.
• Excellent knowledge of phonics, with experience using Read Write Inc. or another recognised phonics programme.
• Experience supporting primary-aged pupils with varying learning needs.
• The confidence to lead intervention groups independently and use initiative.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with a flexible and proactive approach.
• A genuine passion for helping children develop their literacy skills and confidence.
• Two professional references.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
