Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a two-form entry primary school in Liverpool. The role is full-time from January 2026, focusing on delivering phonics and literacy interventions within the KS1 team.

The successful candidate will support planning, assessment and pupil progress, collaborate with SENDCo, and help create inclusive learning environments that promote high expectations and a love of learning. DBS checks are required or in progress.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering phonics interventions (e.g. Read Write Inc. or similar).
• Experience supporting pupils in Key Stage 1.
• Ability to lead small group sessions independently.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality phonics and literacy interventions to small groups of Key Stage 1 pupils.
• Lead structured intervention sessions for children of mixed abilities, targeting identified learning gaps.
• Support teachers with planning, assessment, and monitoring pupil progress.
• Create engaging, inclusive learning environments that encourage children to achieve their full potential.
• Work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to ensure interventions meet individual pupil needs.
• Provide regular feedback to staff and pupils to support ongoing development.
• Promote positive behaviour and a love of learning throughout the school.
