Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time, long-term role in Leigh (WN7) starting September 2026. You will work across EYFS to Year 6, following a weekly timetable, with tasks provided by the class teacher.

This is a temporary role with strong prospects for permanent placement. The successful candidate will support an inclusive school culture, manage classrooms effectively, and uphold safeguarding policies while delivering engaging lessons and timely

Qualifications

  • HLTA qualification (or Level 4) or teaching qualification with QTS.
  • Recent HLTA or teaching experience in a school or education setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of the national curriculum.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management.
  • Exceptional organisational skills to keep on top of marking and lesson planning.

Responsibilities

  • Covering PPA, teaching the children in each class and ensuring they complete their work to a high standard.
  • Guiding children through the curriculum, marking work and setting homework tasks.
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Upholding the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies.
  • Promoting an accepting, inclusive classroom where every student feels they belong.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant- September 2026

We're currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in Leigh, WN7. This HLTA role is full-time, and you will be covering across a variety of classes ranging from EYFS through to Year 6. You will be given a timetable to follow each week, and work will be provided to follow by the class teacher. This role is on a long-term basis starting in September and is a temporary role.

You'll be joining an inclusive and supportive school, focused on supporting children to love life and love learning. This is a great opportunity for a new or experienced educator to become a familiar face in a school where staffing, culture and community go hand in hand.

Your main responsibilities will include:

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
