Astro Education are currently supporting a specialist school in South Manchester that is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. The school provides education and support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working in SEN, SEMH or similar specialist settings.
• Confident supporting pupils with additional needs and challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient, resilient and consistent.

• Capable of taking responsibility for learning activities with small groups.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching and learning across small SEN/SEMH classes.
• Delivering learning activities and interventions as directed by teaching staff.
• Providing individual and small-group support to pupils.
• Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Helping to create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Building strong, positive relationships with pupils.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and senior leaders.
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
