Job summary

SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our ambitious and supportive school family. The role covers PPA and Leadership time across the school on a part-time basis.

The post is term-time only, 25 hours per week, with pay pro-rata to the full-time equivalent salary; visits are encouraged; enhanced DBS checks will be conducted; closing date is 7th October (12 noon). This position is part-time, term-time only, pay pro-rata to FTE.

Qualifications

• Experience planning, teaching and assessing learning across primary curriculum.
• Ability to create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that fosters enjoyment of learning.
• Experience in a primary classroom following EYFS/National Curriculum.
• Experience providing class cover and PPA time.

Responsibilities

• Plan, teach and assess learning opportunities in line with the school's curriculum.
• Cover class time and provide PPA coverage as required.
• Support leadership initiatives and contribute to a positive school ethos.

Job description

The successful candidate will join the team from 2nd November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The role is temporary until August 2027. This part-time post, for 25 hours per week, will include covering PPA and Leadership time across the school. There may also be other roles as directed by the Headteacher.PPA time will be given to the successful candidate to facilitate this work. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. The salary quoted is full term equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be on a pro-rata basis. • Recognised and relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
• Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics
• Ability to operate at a level of understanding and competence equivalent to NVQ Level 4 standard

Desirable Qualifications

• NVQ level 4 qualification or equivalent
• HLTA Qualification
• First aid/Paediatric First Aid Certificate

Essential Experience

• Experience of planning, teaching and assessing learning opportunities effectively, in line with a school's curriculum
• Maintaining a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, that fosters enjoyment of learning
• Experience of working in a primary classroom environment and following the EYFS/National Curriculum
• Providing class cover/PPA

Desirable Experience

• Experience of teaching mixed-aged classes
• Lunchtime/playtime supervision
• Wider contributions to the life of the school
