SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School in Mawdesley, Lancashire, invites applications for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our caring, faith‑based school family. The role is 25 hours per week, term‑time only, covering PPA and Leadership time across the school.

The Governing Body of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our ambitious and supportive school family.

Our small team of staff goes above and beyond to provide the very best for every child and this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who shares this outlook to join our team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, caring and flexible. In return, we can offer a calm, supportive environment set in beautiful rural Lancashire, with pupils who are exceptionally caring and consistently demonstrate excellent behaviour.

The successful candidate will join the team from 2nd November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The role is temporary until August 2027. This part-time post, for 25 hours per week, will include covering PPA and Leadership time across the school. There may also be other roles as directed by the Headteacher. PPA time will be given to the successful candidate to facilitate this work.

Essential Qualifications
  • Recognised and relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification inEnglish and Mathematics
  • Ability tooperateat a level of understanding and competence equivalent to NVQ Level 4 standard
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ level 4 qualification or equivalent
  • HLTA Qualification
  • First aid/Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Essential Experience
  • Experience of planning, teaching and assessing learning opportunities effectively, in line with aschool’s curriculum
  • Maintaining a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, that fosters enjoyment of learning
  • Experience of working in a primaryclassroom environment and following the EYFS/National Curriculum
  • Providing class cover/PPA
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of teaching mixed-aged classes
  • Lunchtime/playtime supervision
  • Wider contributions to the life of the school
