Job summary

Substrate Bio Ltd. is seeking a hands-on protein scientist to build and optimise expression and purification pipelines. You will move proteins from DNA templates through to purified constructs in plate formats, while maintaining meticulous records for downstream QC and data analysis.

The role spans cell-free to mammalian expression, with opportunities to contribute to automated platforms and downstream characterisation. A strong background in biochemistry and high-throughput work is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc/BSc with relevant lab experience in biochemistry or molecular biology.
• Hands-on experience expressing and purifying recombinant proteins.
• Experience with cell-free and mammalian expression systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of PCR, cloning, and sequencing techniques.
• Experience with protein QC methods and plate-based workflows.
• Familiarity with record-keeping in experimental workflows.

Responsibilities

• Prepare expression templates and perform DNA to purified protein workflows.
• Express proteins in cell-free and mammalian systems as the lab grows.
• Purify proteins using affinity capture and verify via QC methods.
• Document all steps with traceable records and data.
• Collaborate with engineers to move protocols toward automation.
• Contribute to downstream characterisation and cell-based assay preparation.
