Job summary

Imperial College London’s Tate group is seeking a technician to express, purify and characterise recombinant proteins using mammalian cells to support molecular glue discovery projects.

You will contribute to developing biochemical or biophysical assays and support the day-to-day running of the laboratory, including equipment maintenance, purchasing, waste disposal, duty rotas, and introductory training for new users. The role sits in a diverse, multidisciplinary team in West London.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a BSc and/or MSc qualification in biochemistry, chemical biology, biotechnology, or a closely related field, or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture, protein purification and characterisation
• Knowledge of, data analysis, and safe laboratory working practices.

Responsibilities

• Expression, purification and characterisation of recombinant proteins using mammalian cell expression.
• Contribute to development of biochemical or biophysical assays using these proteins.
• Support day-to-day running of the laboratory: maintain equipment, purchase consumables, dispose of biohazard and chemical waste, participate in duty rotas, train new users.
