Job summary

Evotec is seeking a Senior Scientist for Protein Purification & Automation at Alderley Park. You will design, lead, and scale automated purification workflows to deliver high-quality protein for drug discovery.

The role requires deep hands-on expertise with ÄKTA chromatography, high-throughput platforms, and integration with LIMS. You will guide multiple projects, contribute to digital workflows, and mentor team members in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in recombinant protein purification.
• High-throughput purification strategies through automation and scale-up.
• Experience with difficult protein targets (unstable, aggregation-prone).
• Hands-on experience with chromatography systems (ÄKTA) and liquid handling/automation platforms.
• Proven track record of designing and optimising purification workflows end-to-end.
• Experience delivering high-quality protein and data under tight timelines.
• Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python) for automation and data processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimise, and execute purification workflows across multiple scales.
• Lead development of high-throughput purification platforms, including automated workflows.
• Purify challenging, unstable proteins using advanced strategies.
• Integrate purification with expression and characterisation pipelines.
• Develop purification workflows using liquid handling systems and ÄKTA platforms.
• Drive automation of complex, multi-step purification processes.
• Contribute to digital workflows (LIMS, data capture).
• Leverage Python to enhance automation and data processing.
• Lead projects and mentor internal resources.
