Job summary

Substrate Bio Ltd. is seeking a hands-on cell biologist to run mammalian cell culture and the cell-based assays for protein characterisation.

You will manage cell lines from thaw to banking, conduct weekly seed/treat/read cycles, and ensure data are recorded in a structured way for the overall system. In this role you will work with 384-well plates, imaging or flow cytometry readouts, and contribute to protocol refinement for eventual automation.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mammalian cell culture to high and consistent standard.
• Experience running cell-based assays end to end with controls and dose-response data.
• Comfort with plate-based work and associated calculations (dilutions, plate maps, normalisation).
• Careful, traceable record-keeping that lets others follow the work.

Responsibilities

• Run cell culture and the cell-based assays for protein characterisation.
• Maintain mammalian cell lines from thaw through routine passage to banking with weekly seeding, treatment, reading and reporting.
• Operate assays in 384-well formats with imaging-based or flow cytometry readouts, ensuring controls and replicates are in place.
• Document procedures so they can be tightened and moved toward automation-friendly plate formats.
