Job summary

Intellectual Capital Resources Ltd. is seeking a SerDes Architecture and Modelling Engineer for our UK-based semiconductor client. The role can be based in Cambridge or the Thames Valley, focusing on research and architecture rather than implementation.

You will bridge mathematical modelling, software development, and high-speed semiconductor hardware design, developing new concepts and translating them into practical transceiver architectures with strong emphasis on modelling and verification.

Qualifications

• Experience with system-level modelling of communication systems and high-speed interfaces.
• Understanding of signal integrity, channel behaviour, noise and jitter.
• Ability to translate system requirements into block-level specs.
• Collaborative work with analog, digital, verification and architecture teams to validate models.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop new concepts for high-speed serial communication systems.
• Build system-level models to compare and optimise architectures.
• Develop signal processing algorithms and evaluate impact on link performance.
• Use MATLAB, Python or C++ to model systems and test ideas.
• Translate research concepts into practical transceiver architectures with IC designers.
• Analyse system limitations including signal integrity, noise, power and clock recovery.
• Define link budgets and block-level specifications from system requirements.
• Support analogue, digital and verification teams throughout development.
