Job summary

Ingersoll Rand plc is seeking a Test Engineer to oversee safe and effective testing, validation and analysis of high-pressure compressor products. You will ensure performance, quality and safety requirements are met in line with company standards and customer specs.

The role is site-based in the UK with occasional travel to customer sites. You will develop test plans, operate test equipment, analyze results and prepare technical reports for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience testing mechanical equipment, compressors or rotating machinery.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write clear technical reports and present findings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct functional, performance, endurance and safety testing of high-pressure compressor products.
• Develop and execute test plans, procedures and validation protocols.
• Safely operate test equipment, instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Monitor compressor performance and record accurate test results.
• Analyse test data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to engineering and operational teams.
• Ensure all testing activities comply with Ingersoll Rand safety, quality and engineering standards.
• Verify compliance with relevant regulations, customer specifications and product requirements.
• Support product development, design verification and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain calibration and readiness of test equipment and facilities.
• Fault find test failures, and work with production & engineering teams to eradicate repeat concerns & failure modes.
