Job summary

Ingersoll Rand plc is seeking a Mechanical Fitter at our Redditch site to construct high‑pressure compressor sub‑assemblies and custom blocks to exacting specifications. You will read drawings and manuals, work in a lean environment, and contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires an Apprenticeship / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience, with responsibilities including problem solving and potential repairs if tests fail.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fitting techniques, such as roller bearing fitting, piston/cylinder assembly.

Responsibilities

• Build high pressure, reciprocating compressor blocks of various sizes within designated time frames to high standards.
• Build a wide variety of sub-assemblies for compressors and aftermarket use.
• Assemble custom engineered compressor sets with limited instruction.
• Read and interpret general arrangement drawings, manuals and written instructions to produce quality products.
• Ensure Health and Safety policies are adhered to.
