Job summary

Windwhistle Primary School in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and ambitious team. You will deliver learning activities, support pupils across the school, and help create an engaging, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

The role is 24 hours per week, term-time only, fixed term until 31 August 2027 with potential extension subject to funding.

Qualifications

• At least four years' experience in a school environment.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and child protection practices.
• Ability to lead learning activities and support whole-class teaching.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Supervise classes during teacher absence and support continuity of learning.
• Work closely with teachers to plan, adapt and deliver learning interventions.
• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, independence and inclusion.
• Work collaboratively with school staff, parents and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
