Job summary

Cheshire East Council is seeking an HGV driver loader to lead the collection crew on the round, performing vehicle checks and ensuring safe, efficient waste and recycling collection for residents. The role is outdoor and physically active, 39 hours per week, four days Monday to Friday with a rotating day off.

Qualifications

• HGV licence (Valid Driver CPC).
• Experience operating similar vehicles safely and professionally.
• Strong awareness of health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Collect household waste and recycling using wheeled bins and sacks.
• Take responsibility for the allocated vehicle and carry out safety checks.
• Act as a loader when required.
• Manage collection routes and lead the crew.
• Support missed and assisted collections.
• Ensure excellent service to residents in a public-facing role.
• Adapt to changing priorities in a busy outdoor environment.
