Job summary

Brighton and Hove City Council is seeking a PM HGV collections driver supervisor to lead a small team in the Environmental Services unit. The role involves supervising crews, performing daily vehicle checks and driving a waste collection vehicle to service households and recycling sites.

The position requires an HGV C category licence, a valid CPC card, and a valid tachograph card. Working pattern is 41 hours per week with contracted overtime, starting at 13:15.

Qualifications

• HGV C category driving licence.
• Valid CPC card.
• Valid tachograph (Tacho) card.
• Management or supervisory experience, or other relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a small team of operatives, ensuring tasks are completed and health and safety rules are followed during refuse and recycling collections.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections.
• Drive waste collection vehicles to remove household, recycling and other designated waste from a variety of locations.
• Deliver a customer-focused collection service.
• Maintain respectful working relationships and communicate politely with colleagues and members of the public.
• Ensure council policies, procedures, values and behaviours are understood and followed.
