Job summary

Plymouth City Council is seeking a Refuse Driver (HGV) to join the commercial waste collection team. You will drive HGV waste collection vehicles safely, lead daily routes and support crews across the city.

The role requires a Full HGV Licence, Driver CPC and Tachograph Card, with health & safety and strong customer service skills essential. Outdoor work in all weather and physical duties are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Full HGV Category C Licence (Category C+E advantageous).
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Experience driving HGV vehicles in operational environments.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake some physical duties.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate HGV waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Lead and support collection crews on daily routes.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks and defect reporting.
• Ensure compliance with driver hours, tachograph regulations and health & safety requirements.
• Deliver excellent customer service while working in a public-facing environment.
• Complete relevant operational records and documentation.
