Job summary

Dudley Council is seeking a Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to join a small, dedicated team responsible for maintenance and repairs of vehicles, plant and equipment in line with the Operator Licence.

You will inspect, service and fault-diagnose vehicles, prepare units for MOT testing and participate in a vehicle breakdown service and winter maintenance operations. Applicants should have NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds in HGV repair, and LGV Cat C licence or be willing to train within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Qualified in heavy goods vehicle repair or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
• Ability to inspect, service and repair vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Knowledge of MOT procedures and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and repair vehicles, plant and equipment using appropriate tools and safely.
• Conduct fault diagnostics on vehicles and equipment.
• Prepare and undertake MOT testing of vehicles.
• Participate in vehicle breakdown service and winter maintenance.
