Job summary

Newcastle City Council (City Transport) seeks an experienced motor vehicle technician to join the Heavy Goods Vehicle workshop in Newcastle. You will maintain, diagnose and repair the council's HGV fleet (3.5t and upwards) and support MOT preparation for the fleet, contributing to efficient workshop operations.

A recognised apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 and a Category B driving licence are essential, with D1 or C licences advantageous.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in motor vehicle engineering.
• Experience in HGV service inspections and MOT preparation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose and repair the council's HGV fleet (3.5t+).
• Perform service inspections and MOT preparation.
• Work in the Heavy Goods Vehicle workshop at Newington Road.

Education

NVQ level 3 or equivalent in motor vehicle engineering
