Job summary

KAUTEC RECRUITMENT Ltd is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Technician in the West Midlands to inspect and service a diverse fleet including HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, and trailers.

You will perform routine maintenance, MOT preparation, DVSA-compliant servicing, and inspections every 6–8 weeks, tackling defects. Fully qualified candidates with City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent are preferred, with IRTEC/EV and HGV licences desirable.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.
• IRTEC or EV qualification desirable.
• HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence desirable.
• Experience with heavy commercial vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and inspections on a varied fleet.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and maintain DVSA standards.
• Conduct 6–8 weekly inspections and correct running defects.
• Perform chassis, fabrication, hydraulics and pneumatics work.
• Inspect and correct electrical/wiring systems to improve vehicle standards.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGV#s) refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers and tippers-

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to)

Routine (and preventative) maintenance

MOT preparation

Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards

6 (or 8) weekly inspections

Correction of running defects

Chassis and fabrication work

Hydraulics and pneumatics

Improvement of vehicle standards

Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections

We are looking for qualified and time served Heavy Technicians who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.
