Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation in Corby for a skilled HGV Technician. The role is permanent and full-time within a modern fleet operation focused on long-term stability and workforce development.

Key duties include inspection, servicing and repair of HGVs to DOT standards, accurate documentation, and collaboration with external workshops. A City & Guilds in Motor Vehicle Engineering is required; IRTEC is advantageous with training provided.

Qualifications

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good understanding of Department of Transport compliance and standards.
• IRTEC license advantageous but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain and repair HGVs and commercial vehicles per DOT standards.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults to ensure vehicle safety.
• Complete service documentation accurately.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and liaise with external workshops for specialist repairs.
• Attend breakdowns on-site and off-site to minimise downtime.
• Support workshop operations, including ad-hoc supervisory tasks as required.
• Repair associated equipment such as forklifts and workshop tools.
• Contribute to health and safety regulations within the workshop.
