Job summary

Talent Finder is seeking a skilled HGV Technician / Mechanic to service and repair a fleet of vehicles in Oxfordshire. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and carry out regular inspections to ensure safety and reliability.

The role requires owning your tools and working well within a team to maintain high standards of maintenance and PMI documentation. Weekly hours are Monday to Friday with Saturday overtime optional, offering competitive pay and opportunities for overtime.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HGV Technician/Mechanic.
• Strong mechanical knowledge for servicing and fault finding.
• Experience with diagnostic and brake testing is essential.
• Own tools required; larger tools provided.
• Reliable and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs.
• Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs.
• Conduct 6-weekly inspections.
• Brake testing and diagnostic testing.
• MOT preparation.
• Ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
• Maintain service records and PMI paperwork.

Location: Black Bourton, Oxfordshire
Hours:Full Time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am 5:00 pm (Saturday overtime optional)
Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 per annum

An established plant hire company with over 50 years of industry experience, providing high-quality plant and digger hire across the UK, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic to maintain and repair their HGV fleet.

We take pride in delivering reliable, well-maintained equipment and exceptional service to our customers, prioritising safety and operational excellence. This role is key to maintaining fleet reliability and supporting operational efficiency across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repairs (mechanical and electrical)
• Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
• Conducting 6-weekly inspections
• Brake testing and diagnostic testing (experience essential)
• MOT preparation
• Ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and roadworthy
• Maintaining accurate service records and completing all relevant PMI paperwork

About You

Essential

• Proven experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic
• Strong mechanical knowledge, including servicing, maintenance, and fault finding on HGVs
• Experience with diagnostic testing and brake testing is essential (support available, but prior experience required)
• Own tools required (standard personal tools expected; larger/specialist equipment provided)
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Desirable

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Class 2 (Category C) driving licence

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday, 7:00 am 5:00 pm
• Saturday work is optional and paid as overtime
