Job summary

Auto Skills UK is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician for a permanent night shift in Doncaster. The role focuses on inspection, maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles to keep them safe and compliant.

You will service HGVs and trailers, diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, and prepare vehicles for MOT inspections while maintaining thorough records and supporting the workshop team.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Proven HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair HGVs and trailers to safety standards.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT/DVSA inspections.
• Complete accurate job cards and maintenance records.
• Support apprentices and workshop team.

Location: Doncaster

Salary: £50,378 per annum

Hours: 4 on, 4 off | 6:00pm-6:00am

Contract: Permanent

Overtime: £28.51 per hour | Sundays £38.01 per hour

We're recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle maintenance operation in Doncaster.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified technician looking for a permanent night-shift position, with strong earning potential, overtime opportunities and ongoing technical development.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and kept to a high standard.

Duties will include:

• Servicing, inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers
• Mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic fault finding
• Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults
• Electrical repairs and component replacement
• Welding and metalwork when required
• Preparing vehicles for MOT/DVSA inspections
• Accurately completing job cards and maintenance records
• Supporting apprentices and other members of the workshop team
• Carrying out repairs and inspections on workshop equipment when required

About You

The successful HGV Technician will have:

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, or proven HGV Technician experience
• Previous HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance experience
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Ability to use hand and power tools confidently
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Class 1 licence desirable but not essential
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
