Platinum Recruitment Consultancy is seeking an experienced HGV Technician/Mechanic in Nottingham. You will carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a fleet of commercial vehicles, diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults to keep trucks safe and roadworthy.

Ideal candidates will have a recognised heavy vehicle maintenance qualification, strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on HGVs.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Inspect brakes, suspension, steering, engines and transmissions.
• Support vehicle inspections, MOT preparation and rectification work.
• Identify recurring defects and ensure faults are resolved.
• Complete accurate service records and maintenance reports.
• Coordinate with fleet colleagues and external repair providers.
• Maintain high standards of safety, roadworthiness and repair quality.

HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £38,000-£45,000 per annum

Shifts: Rotating early and late shifts - 06:00-14:30 / 13:30-22:00

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out HGV servicing, preventative maintenance and vehicle repairs.
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Inspecting brakes, suspension, steering, engines and transmission systems.
• Supporting vehicle inspections, MOT preparation and rectification work.
• Identifying recurring defects and ensuring faults are properly resolved.
• Completing accurate service records, job cards and maintenance reports.
• Working with fleet colleagues and external repair providers to coordinate maintenance.
• Maintaining high standards of vehicle safety, roadworthiness and repair quality.

What we're looking for

You’ll ideally be a fully qualified HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic with at least five years’ relevant experience in heavy goods vehicle maintenance and repair.

• A recognised qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• A good understanding of commercial vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to completing repairs correctly.
• Confidence using diagnostic equipment, maintenance systems and digital job records.
• Clear communication skills and a positive, practical attitude.

Working hours

• Week 1 - Early shift: 06:00-14:30.
• Week 2 - Late shift: 13:30-22:00.
• Flexibility is also required to support out-of-hours breakdown cover and the Saturday rota, currently around one Saturday per quarter.
