Job summary

The HGV Technician role in Colnbrook near Slough offers a challenging, hands-on position within a respected fleet maintenance employer. You will diagnose faults across hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, carry out inspections, servicing and repairs, and help prepare vehicles for MOT inspections.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in HGV maintenance and repair.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
• Completing service documentation, job cards and maintenance records accurately.
• Supporting apprentice technicians and contributing to the smooth running of the workshop.

The successful HGV Technician should have:

• City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in HGV maintenance and repair
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation and workshop best practices
