Job summary

Veolia in Merseyside is seeking an operational supervisor to support transport planning, allocate vehicles and drivers, and ensure efficient service delivery.

You will work to optimise routes, support colleagues and customers, and drive improvements in driver performance and learning opportunities. A relevant licence and safety qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Operational experience supervising teams.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Level 3 Team Leadership or equivalent.
• HGV Class 2 Licence (Class 1 desirable).
• Up-to-date CPC and Digi/Tachograph card.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to transport supervisor in vehicle/driver planning and absence controls.
• Control operations by deploying vehicles to maximise contract efficiency.
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers to ensure outstanding service.
• Provide hand-on IT support to the team and drive continuous improvement.
• Complete driving assessments and coordinate breakdowns.
• Drive and operate vehicles to transport waste and recycling materials.

Salary

£41,220.98 plus performance bonus. OTE £47,837.33 (pay award pending)

Hours

4 on 2 off shift pattern, 07:45 - 17:30 (Winter) / 18:30 (select days in Summer)

Location

Merseyside - primarily based at Bidston Recycling Centre, CH41 1EB

What will you be doing?

• Provide support to the transport supervisor in the allocation of vehicles and drivers through planning and absence controls
• Control operations by strategically deploying vehicles to maximise efficiency across the contract
• Collaborate with colleagues, internal and external customers, and third parties to ensure outstanding customer service
• Provide hand-on IT support to your team; and drive continuous improvement by assessing driver performance and identifying learning opportunities
• Complete driving assessments
• Coordinate breakdown and recovery services
• Drive and operate rigid and when required articulated vehicles (subject to appropriate licence category) to transport waste and recycling materials
• Complete paper and digital records of work activity

What are we looking for?

• Similar operational supervisory experience
• IOSH Managing Safely
• Level 3 Team Leadership or equivalent experience
• HGV Class 2 Licence - (Class 1 Licence desirable)
• Up to date CPC and Digi / Tachograph card
