Job summary

NMS Recruit in Reading is seeking a qualified HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop. You will service, maintain, and repair heavy goods vehicles to keep them safe and roadworthy, with training and development on offer.

The role offers a competitive package with a basic salary up to £50,000, overtime at time and a half, and flexible patterns for the right candidate, plus generous leave, pension and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI).
• Experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter.
• Experience with diagnostic work, servicing and repairs on commercial vehicles.
• Solid understanding of DVSA inspection standards and requirements.
• Full UK driving licence for relevant vehicle classes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and safety inspections on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults with diagnostic equipment.
• Complete repairs within agreed timescales, major and minor.
• Identify worn components in line with DVSA standards.
• Maintain a clean workshop and follow health and safety procedures.
