Reed Boardall Group is seeking a skilled HGV Fitter / Trailer Technician to join our busy workshop. The role focuses on service, inspection, maintenance and repair of our refrigerated trailer fleet.

You will perform diagnostics, fault finding across electrical, hydraulic and refrigeration systems, and prepare trailers for annual MOT tests. Strong safety focus and the ability to work nights are desirable.

Qualificações

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Proven HGV fitter experience with refrigerated trailers.
• Full UK driving license; HGV Class 1 a plus but not required.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out servicing and repairs on HGV trailers, with emphasis on refrigerated units.
• Perform PMI inspections to DVSA standards.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and refrigeration faults.

Job Description:

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Fitter / Trailer Technician to join our busy workshop team. While you will work across our fleet, this role has a strong focus on the service, inspection, maintenance, and repair of our modern fleet of temperature-controlled (refrigerated) trailers.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain & Repair: Carry out routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on HGV trailers, focusing heavily on refrigerated units
• Inspections: Conduct scheduled PMI (Periodic Maintenance Inspections) to DVSA standards.
• Fault Finding: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and refrigeration system faults.
• MOT Prep: Prepare trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure a first-time pass rate.
• Compliance: Complete all job cards, service sheets, and maintenance records accurately using our digital fleet management system.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is ideal, but experienced, time-served fitters are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Proven experience working as an HGV Fitter or Trailer Technician. Direct experience with transport refrigeration units.
• Skills: Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and hydraulic trailer systems.
• License: A full UK driving license is required. An HGV Class 1 (Category CE) license is a major plus but not essential.
• Mindset: A safety-first approach with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Pattern:

4 on 4 off, 18.00 pm – 06.00 am (Nights)

Salary:

Up to £42,596 per annum
