Job summary

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic at Earlswood Depot. The role is permanent, full time (45 hours per week) with a salary of £46,342.50 to £49,548.75.

You will maintain the council fleet and Grounds Maintenance equipment, ensuring DVSA standards and licensing conditions are met while delivering timely administration and customer service. The team values experience in Planned/Unplanned maintenance for heavy and light vehicles and a proactive approach to safety.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or equivalent mechanic qualification required.
• DVSA MOT tester status or eligibility for immediate training.
• HGV Cat C licence is essential.
• Basic English and maths skills required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repair and maintenance on the council fleet, including grounds equipment.
• Ensure work meets high standards and DVSA/Operator Licence compliance.
• Complete relevant administration promptly.
• Attend roadside breakdowns and recover vehicles when needed.

Education

City & Guilds or equivalent mechanic qualification

DVSA approved nominated MOT tester or eligible for training (classes 3,4,5,7)

HGV Driving Licence (Cat C)

Basic standard in English & maths
