Job summary

Concept Resources are recruiting on behalf of Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their Fleet Services team. The Councils operate a joint fleet of almost 200 vehicles, supporting waste collection, street cleansing, grounds maintenance and housing repairs across approximately 80,000 households.

Based primarily at the Bromsgrove depot, with occasional travel to Redditch, you’ll ensure the fleet remains safe, compliant and operational,

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering (or equivalent).
• Qualification to VOSA standards for HGV inspections and testing.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet of commercial vehicles and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair chassis, body and specialist equipment faults.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and statutory testing.
• Ensure all work complies with DVSA, Operator Licence and Council standards.
• Complete inspection reports and workshop documentation accurately.
• Carry out off-site breakdown support when required.
• Work across both Council depots as business needs dictate.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the workshop.
• Deliver high levels of customer service to internal departments.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and report hazards promptly.
