Job summary

West Suffolk Council is recruiting an LGV Vehicle Mechanic to join the Fleet Management team at the West Suffolk Operational Hub near Bury St Edmunds. You will service and repair a range of light and heavy vehicles, plant and equipment, supporting our workshop with safety and quality at the forefront.

This permanent, full-time role (37 hours) offers a starting salary of £34,237 to £39,481 per year plus an excellent employee benefits package.

Qualifications

• Strong team player with the ability to plan and prioritise workshop requirements.
• Well organised with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Regular servicing and repair of light and heavy vehicles, road-sweepers, plant and horticultural equipment.
• Attend breakdowns and site visits to provide assistance as required.
• Provide a welding and fabrication service and assist with MOT testing as necessary.
• Prepare and maintain work records.
• Represent the Council in a professional manner in line with policy and contract specification.
• Carry out work safely in accordance with Health & Safety policy and PPE.
