Job summary

Amey is seeking an HGV Driver / Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Transport Infrastructure team in Dundee, helping to maintain Scotland's trunk roads and transport routes. This role blends driving with practical highway maintenance, operating specialist vehicles, responding to incidents, and supporting winter operations to keep roads safe all year round.

You'll work 39 hours per week with standard and occasional night shifts, and be part of a safety‑conscious, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Licence required.
• Full UK Driving Licence essential.
• Experience in highways maintenance, roadworks or civils.
• Strong health and safety practices.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Positive, team-focused attitude.
• Winter maintenance experience advantageous.
• Street Works or related qualifications beneficial.
• Experience operating plant and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Driving and operating HGVs and specialist highway maintenance vehicles
• Carriageway and footway repairs
• Kerbing and ironwork replacement
• Drainage maintenance and repair works
• Operating small plant and equipment
• Winter gritting and snow response activities
• Emergency incident response and network recovery
• General highway maintenance and environmental activities
• Completing vehicle inspections, records and work documentation
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
